What we check before listing a provider

What we do not yet verify
State license status. Unlike some trades, funeral licensing records in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri are not published as downloadable rosters — Arkansas sells its licensee file, and Oklahoma and Missouri offer only one-at-a-time lookup. So we do not currently display a license badge, and you should not read a listing here as a statement about any provider's licensure. We verify license status individually when a provider claims their listing, and we mark those listings accordingly. You can always confirm a provider directly with your state board.
Where prices come from
The FTC's Funeral Rule requires funeral providers to disclose itemized price information. Where we show a price, it comes from the provider's own disclosure and carries the date we recorded it. Prices change — if ours is older than the provider's current list, theirs governs, so always confirm before you commit. We never estimate a provider's price, and we never charge a provider to be listed or to rank higher.
The quality score
Each listing carries a 0–100 score built from the checks above. Below 40 a listing stays unpublished. Every listing shows the date it was last verified, and any change to a listing's status is logged.
